Chordeleg — A land of artisan tradition
Chordeleg, located in the province of Azuay in the southern Ecuadorian highlands and about 45 minutes from Cuenca, is recognized as one of the most important artisan centers in Ecuador. This small canton of 15,000 inhabitants has built its identity through the talent, creativity, and dedication of its artisans.
In addition to jewelry, Chordeleg is known for other artisanal expressions such as decorative ceramics, toquilla straw weaving, handcrafted footwear, and embroidery—manifestations that reflect the creativity, tradition, and cultural pride of its people.
